Western Double Gun & Rifle Championships
Proudly Presented by Ithaca Classic Doubles and Krieghoff International
At Rock Springs Ranch & Lodge, April 20, 2002

The 3rd Gold Medal Concours d’Elegance of Fine Guns, and the Western Double Gun & Rifle Championships, on April 20, 2002, at Rock Springs Ranch & Lodge in California, are history. The turnout of skilled shooters, fine guns, fine people, exhibitors, sponsors and enthusiasts was unprecedented.

The panel of judges at Concours III included Roger Lake (fine-gun specialist at Butterfields), Ray Poudrier (co-founder of the Vintagers and producer of The Vintage Cup), Richard Gallyon (of Gallyon & Sons, Gunmakers), Chris Batha (of E.J. Churchill Gunmakers) and David Moore, of William Larkin Moore. Sincere thanks and appreciation to these gentlemen for their time and efforts.

Best in Show was a heavily embellished Johann Springer 16-bore underlever hammer side-by-side, cased but unserialized, that is the property of a collector who wishes to remain anonymous. The Boothroyd Award (“the people’s choice”) went to Paul Dorsa’s spectacular A1-grade Parker No. 180178 with 28ga. and .410 barrels.

The Ithaca Classic Cup, for high overall honors in the shotgun event, was won by John Swineford. He is the Western Double Gun Champion for 2002.

The Krieghoff Cup, for high overall honors in the rifle event, was won by Peter Leffe (shooting a .500 Nitro Express). He is the Western Rifle Champion for 2002.

Thank you for your support!
