The Gold Medal Concours to be Held
at The National Side by Side Festival in May 2005

As you know, the GMC is a “gentlemanly competition” of collectible, historic, beautiful and just plain interesting guns-displayed for all to admire and for a panel of judges to evaluate. Guns are classified based on age, country, caliber and type of action, and the jury awards Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates as appropriate. There are also special honors such as the NRA Cup, Best in Show, the Boothroyd Award and other Bests selected by collector associations, manufacturers and others. Please note that the 9th Gold Medal Concours is proud to feature a spectacular L.C. Smith collection belonging to an Illinois collector. GMC IX, the 9th Gold Medal Concours d’Elegance of Fine Guns, will take place on Saturday May 14, at the Vintagers’ new National Side by Side Festival at the Northbrook Sports Club in Hainesville, Illinois. You are invited to enjoy the shooting and festivities and, whether you display your guns for judging or simply tour the exhibit, do not miss the Concours! Studio-quality, high-resolution digital photos of your guns will be available for a nominal fee. – On Sunday morning the NRA Foundation will host a special, invitation-only breakfast for Concours participants and select guests, as it does at the Concours at The Vintage Cup each September. – Please return to this site often for updates on the judges and special awards, the breakfast speaker, NRA activities at the Concours, the list of collector groups that will take part, posts of special guns and rifles on display, and other news of GMC IX.
