Gold Medal Concours d’Elegance of Fine Guns

Proudly Presented by the NRA
and in association with Bonhams & Butterfields
2003 Charity Sponsor B. Searcy & Co

By invitation of the Vintagers, the 6th Gold Medal Concours d’Elegance of Fine Guns will take place at The Vintage Cup, at Orvis Sandanona in Millbrook, New York, on September 19/20, 2003.
The Concours is an exhibition of privately owned guns and rifles–a showcase for the arts of gunmaking. The displays are judged, making this a “gentlemanly competition.”
Based on age, origin, bore and type of action, there are many classes of fine guns; the judges will award gold, silver and bronze certificates in as many of those classes as appropriate.

There are also special honors conferred by groups such as the NRA, the German Gun Collectors and the Lefever Arms Collectors, William Larkin Moore, Shooting Sportsman, Upland Almanac and others. See below.
  • Winners of Best in Show, the Boothroyd Award and the NRA Cup will be invited to be displayed at The National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Virginia – a singular honor.
  • Entrants in the 6th Concours will be invited to a special breakfast on Saturday, 20 September, hosted by The NRA Foundation in conjunction with Roosevelt & Drake and the Sayler-Hawkins Foundation. This will be a chance to mingle with fellow collectors and enjoy a private viewing of some very select pieces from The National Firearms Museum.
  • The Honored Marque at the 6th Gold Medal Concours is Dakota Arms. In tribute to him as a gunmaker and a friend, a selection of the personal guns of Don Allen, Dakota’s late founder, will be on display.
