Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever's National Pheasant Fest & Quail Classic concluded after drawing 22,136 attendees to the weekend event at the Kansas City Convention Center. The national convention and outdoor tradeshow, presented by Cabela's, was in Kansas City for the first time.
Vermont Announces Spruce Grouse Recovery Plan
A new "Vermont Spruce Grouse Recovery Plan" was announced Wednesday by Vermont Agency of Natural Resources Secretary Deb Markowitz. The plan to restore a self-sustaining population of the "State-Endangered" spruce grouse in Vermont is based on information collected and reviewed by state and private scientists working together over several decades.
Colorado Prepares for Snow Goose Festival
Each morning in southeast Colorado at this time of year, tens of thousands of snow geese lift off local ponds and reservoirs in a pre-dawn ritual. The swirl of flapping wings and din of honking grows louder as the birds circle overhead and make their way to nearby grain fields.
Vermont Offers Spring Snow Goose Opportunities
Since 2009 hunters have had the opportunity to pursue snow geese during the spring as a result of a special management action referred to as a "Conservation Order" allowed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and adopted by the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Board.
CRP General Signup Scheduled for March
Acting Under Secretary for Farm and Foreign Agricultural Services Michael Scuse announces the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will conduct a four-week Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) general signup, beginning on March 12th and ending on April 6th. Currently, about 30 million acres are enrolled in CRP; and contracts on an estimated 6.5 million acres will expire on Sept.
Kentucky Cooperative Dove Field Signups Underway
Kentucky farmers can help carry on the hunting tradition and earn much-needed extra cash by enrolling in the Cooperative Dove Field Program. Enrollment is currently underway and will continue until mid-March.

House Passes Electronic Duck Stamp Act
The U.S. House of Representatives is passed H.R. 3117, the Permanent Electronic Duck Stamp Act of 2011, 373 to 1 (with 59 not voting). The bill was sponsored by Rep. Robert Wittman (R-VA) of the Natural Resources Committee.
