Who came first, the shooter or the hunter? In my experience they arrived about the same time. The BB gun I carried as a kid while tramping Michigan pheasant fields with my father was the same one I used for plinking soda cans.

The first time I met Ed Muderlak in person was at the Grand Ole Opry Gun Show in Nashville in 1995. I’d talked to Ed numerous times after he’d joined the Parker Gun Collectors Association in 1993, and I can truthfully say I don’t think I ever finished a conversation with him without having learned something new.
This May there will be an opportunity for 100 women to travel to the prestigious Homestead Resort, in Hot Springs, Virginia, to take part in a ladies-only shooting weekend called Shotguns & She-nanagins. Hosted by Elizabeth Lanier of Lanier Shooting Sports, this inaugural, all-inclusive event is designed to foster and encourage women’s participation in the shotgun sports.
If you yearn for a challenging, genuine, wild-bird hunting experience, then The Sandhills Sharptail Shootout, hosted by the town of Mullen, Nebraska, is for you. The Sharptail Shootout is an amateur sporting competition in which up to 20 five-member teams, limited to one box of 25 shells per team, see how many prairie grouse they can harvest in one day with the fewest shots.
